The Two Goals of Adult Day Care

Adult Day Care has two goals: to give senior participants a safe, supportive, and cheerful environment in which to come together and engage in activities, and to give caregivers temporary relief from their 24/7 responsibilities.

"Adult Day Care is today what day care was three decades ago - a new concept whose time has come" says Dayscape program director and founder Susan Eichler.

Adult Day Care provides care and companionship for seniors who need assistance or supervision during the day. Dayscape offers small group and individual activities such as reminiscence, trivia, current events, music and art. The center also provides nursing care, light exercise and assistance with activities of daily living. All participants are served snacks, beverages and a hot catered lunch and may take advantage of transportation to and from the center.

Dayscape provides a certified program for seniors with medical conditions and offers special activities for participants with dementia. The center is licensed and approved by Florida's Agency for Health Care.

Adult Day Care also offers relief to family members and allows them the freedom to handle personal business, go to work, or just get respite from their full-time responsivility. The service offers caregivers a less expensive alternative to in-home health aids, assisted living facilities and nursing homes. Dayscapes extended and flexible center hours accommodate caregivers schedules six days a week.

The goal of senior day care is to delay or prevent institutionalization by providing alternative care, enhancing self-esteem and encouraging socialization. Dayscape offers both participants and caregivers this affordable option in a safe, comfortable and modern setting, allowing seniors to remain in their homes as long as possible.

While many types of help are available to seniors, there is a great need for more affordable care. Adult day care is this valuable but not yet wide spread service. If you or someone you love is in need we invite you to come spend the day with us.
